The Prairie Heart Guest House is a 32 room motel like facility connected to both North Central Heart Institute and the Avera Heart Hospital. Built on an acre of land donated by North Central Heart physicians and located adjacent to the northeast corner of North Central Heart, the guest house is comfortable, safe and affordable.
Families often need to stay with us for an undetermined amount of time, therefore, the Prairie Heart Guest House does not take reservations. To inquire about availability, please stop at the concierge desk when you arrive at the hospital or clinic. The concierge desk is located in the front lobby of the hospital.
Rooms include:
- two queen beds
- wireless Internet access
- access to laundry facilities
- hair dryers
- two fully handicapped accessible rooms available
About the Guest House
Prairie Heart Guest House is a dream come true! The idea for affordable family lodging adjacent to the North Central Heart Institute and the Avera Heart Hospital began in 1999. Enthusiasm for the project grew quickly because of the understanding that having family nearby enhances the healing process for patients.
A non-profit organization was formed in 2000, with the final non-profit designation received in August of 2002. In 2007 the motel expanded to add a second floor to help accommodate more families. The Board of Directors includes physicians’ spouses, Avera Sisters, leaders from North Central Heart, the Avera Heart Hospital and representatives from the community.
